COLUMBIA SHORT SUBJECT 2 REELER - A LOST FILM STORY ?

In a recent collection of 16mm film we found an unmarked box - the film inside was missing its title card - so a mystery.
We ran the film and took screenshots. As the film ended with 'A Columbia Short Subject Presentation' we did a bit of research and shared the screenshots with a couple of our contacts in the USA. They identified the film as 'Boobs in the Night' a comedy starring El Mendel and Monte Collins from 1943. So far so good.
More research and we found that this film was marked as 'Lost Film' on an index of Columbia 2 Reelers. Further digging found that many of the 'Lost films' were actually made available as rental copies by Columbia, but they didnt include the film in the 1959 TV package of 2 reelers for broadcast - apparently 70 films were missing from that package and so deemed 'Lost' even though having been made available for rent . So is it 'Lost' or just 'Hard to Find'
The film was subsequently remade by the 3 Stooges as 'Dopey Dicks' in 1950 - a possible reason why the El Mendel version was not retained ?
Many thanks to our American friends for helping us through this little story.
